Health & Wellness

Your health comes first. Joyner provides comprehensive coverage so you and your family can stay well, get care when you need it, and never have to worry about going it alone.

Group Medical Insurance
Choose from two leading health plans — Kaiser Permanente or Blue Cross Blue Shield (Anthem). Access your benefits, find in-network doctors, view claims, and manage your family's coverage through your plan's member portal.
Prescription Drug Coverage
Managed through CVS Caremark. Check drug costs, find a pharmacy near you, set up home delivery, and save money on the medications you and your family depend on.
Dental Coverage
Comprehensive dental benefits covering preventive care (cleanings, X-rays), basic services (fillings, extractions), and major care (crowns, root canals). Keep your smile healthy — it matters.
Vision Coverage
Joyner vision coverage is administered through VSP Vision Care. Coverage includes annual eye exams, plus an allowance for frames, lenses, or contacts. In-network savings are significantly higher. Log in to find a VSP provider near you, check your benefits, and submit out-of-network claims.
HSA & FSA Accounts
Use pre-tax dollars to pay for qualified out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. A Health Savings Account (HSA) rolls over year to year; a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) gives you immediate access to your full election. Either way, you keep more of what you earn.
Life Insurance & HRA
Joyner provides corporate life insurance coverage and an employer-funded Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) for eligible expenses. Manage beneficiary designations and submit reimbursement requests through Joyner One.
Mental Health & EAP
Your mental health matters just as much as your physical health. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides confidential counseling, stress management resources, and mental health support — free, private, and available whenever you need it.

Health Coverage — What You Need to Know

Joyner offers two health plan options — Kaiser Permanente and Blue Cross Blue Shield (Anthem). Each plan covers the same core services but differs in network structure, cost-sharing, and how you access care. Choose the plan that best fits how your family uses healthcare.

Feature
Kaiser Permanente
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Network Type
HMO — integrated care within Kaiser network
PPO — broader network, use any provider
Referrals Required
Yes — PCP referral for specialists
No — self-refer to any in-network provider
Out-of-Network
Emergency only
Covered at higher cost-share
Best For
Associates near Kaiser facilities who prefer coordinated care
Associates who travel, live outside Kaiser areas, or see specialists
What All Plans Cover
Preventive care (100% covered), primary care visits, specialist visits, emergency and urgent care, hospitalization, surgery, maternity care, mental health services, prescription drugs, and lab work.
Adding Dependents
Eligible dependents include your legal spouse or domestic partner, and dependent children up to age 26. You may add dependents during your initial enrollment window or during Open Enrollment each November.
Qualifying Life Events
Marriage, birth or adoption, divorce, loss of other coverage, or a dependent aging off your plan allows you to make mid-year changes. You have 30 days from the qualifying event to submit your change to HR.
Prescription Drug Coverage
Managed through CVS Caremark. Generic drugs have the lowest copay — ask your doctor if a generic equivalent is available. Home delivery for maintenance medications saves both time and money.

HSA vs. FSA — Which Is Right for You?

Both accounts let you use pre-tax dollars for qualified medical expenses — but they work differently. Understanding the key differences helps you choose the right account and maximize your tax savings.

Health Savings Account (HSA)
✓ Available only with a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
✓ Funds roll over year after year — no "use it or lose it"
✓ You own the account — it goes with you if you leave Joyner
✓ Triple tax advantage: contributions, growth, and withdrawals are all tax-free when used for qualified expenses
✓ Can be invested once balance exceeds threshold
✓ 2025 limit: $4,300 individual / $8,550 family
Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
✓ Available with any health plan
✓ Full annual election amount available immediately on Jan 1
✓ Use-it-or-lose-it — unused funds forfeited at year-end (small grace period may apply)
✓ Cannot be invested
✓ Stays with Joyner if you leave
✓ 2025 limit: $3,300 per year
✓ Dependent Care FSA also available for childcare expenses
Qualified expenses for both accounts include: deductibles, copayments, prescriptions, dental and vision care, medical equipment, and many over-the-counter items. Use your benefits debit card for seamless payment or submit receipts for reimbursement.

Financial Security & Wealth Building

We want you to feel financially confident — today and in retirement. Joyner's financial benefits are built to protect your income, grow your savings, and give you peace of mind.

401(k) with Employer Match
Administered through Charles Schwab, the Joyner 401(k) Plan includes company-matching contributions — free money toward your future. View your balance, manage investments, update contributions, and access retirement planning tools anytime.
Financial Counseling & Education
Access financial planning tools, retirement calculators, and one-on-one guidance through Schwab's financial wellness resources. Whether you're just starting out or planning retirement, we've got you covered.
Short & Long-Term Disability
If an illness or injury keeps you from working, Joyner's employer-provided Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) benefits replace a portion of your income — so you can focus on getting better, not on bills.
Identity Theft Protection
Joyner provides identity monitoring and protection coverage for eligible associates. If your personal or financial identity is ever compromised, you'll have dedicated resources to help you recover quickly.

401(k) — Building Your Retirement

The Joyner 401(k) plan — administered through Charles Schwab — is one of the most powerful financial tools available to you. Every dollar you contribute is pre-tax, meaning you reduce your taxable income today while building wealth for tomorrow. And when Joyner matches your contributions, that is free money you should never leave on the table.

1
Enroll as Soon as You Are Eligible
You can enroll in the 401(k) plan beginning on your first day of employment. Log into the Charles Schwab portal via the Financial Security section on this page to set your contribution percentage and select your investment funds.
2
Contribute at Least Enough to Get the Full Match
Joyner matches a percentage of your contributions — check the plan details in the Schwab portal for your specific match rate. Contributing less than the match threshold means you are leaving free money behind every pay period.
3
2025 IRS Contribution Limits
You can contribute up to $23,500 per year to your 401(k) in 2025. Associates aged 50 or older can make an additional $7,500 catch-up contribution — for a total of $31,000 annually.
4
Choose Your Investments
The Schwab portal offers a range of mutual funds, target-date funds, and index funds. Target-date funds automatically adjust your investment mix as you approach retirement — a solid choice if you prefer a hands-off approach. Schwab financial advisors are available for guidance at no additional cost.
5
Update Your Beneficiary
Your 401(k) beneficiary designation is separate from your life insurance beneficiary. Make sure both are up to date — especially after major life events like marriage, divorce, or the birth of a child. Update via the Schwab portal or contact HR at hr@myjoyner.com.
Tip: Even a 1% increase in your contribution rate today can add tens of thousands of dollars to your retirement savings over a career. If you got a merit increase this year, consider directing a portion of it to your 401(k) before adjusting your lifestyle to the higher take-home.

Work-Life Balance & Professional Growth

We believe the best version of you shows up when your life outside of work is fulfilling too. Joyner invests in your growth, your time, and your passions.

Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO)
Rest is not a reward — it's a right. Joyner's adaptable PTO policy is designed to support your work-life balance, so you can recharge, spend time with family, and come back at your best.
Tuition Reimbursement & Development
Joyner invests in your future. Receive financial support for job-related education, certifications, and skills training. Grow your career here — the ceiling is as high as your ambition.
Company Apparel & Merchandise
Show your Joyner pride with our online store featuring clothing and accessories. T-shirts, jackets, hats, bags — find the perfect item to represent the company you help build every single day.

Life Events & When to Update Your Benefits

Major life changes often require — or allow — updates to your benefits elections. Do not wait for Open Enrollment if you have a qualifying life event. Contact HR within 30 days of the event to make changes.

💍 Getting Married
Add your spouse to health, dental, and vision coverage. Update beneficiary on 401(k) and life insurance. Review whether your combined coverage picture changes which health plan makes sense.
👶 New Child (Birth or Adoption)
Add your child to health, dental, and vision within 30 days of birth or adoption. Update life insurance beneficiary. Consider adding a Dependent Care FSA for childcare expenses. Review your PTO balance for parental leave planning.
💔 Divorce or Separation
Remove your former spouse from coverage immediately following finalization. Update beneficiary designations on all accounts — 401(k), life insurance, and HRA. A court order may affect 401(k) beneficiary changes (QDRO).
🎓 Dependent Turning 26
Adult children age off your health plan at 26. Notify HR in advance so they can coordinate COBRA or marketplace coverage for your dependent. Do not let them experience a coverage gap.
🏥 Loss of Other Coverage
If you or a dependent loses coverage from another source — a spouse's job, for example — you have 30 days to enroll in Joyner benefits outside of Open Enrollment. Do not miss this window.
📋 Any Major Life Change
When in doubt, contact HR within 30 days of the event. It is always better to ask than to miss a window and be unable to update your coverage until the following November.
30-day rule: Qualifying life event changes must be submitted to HR within 30 days of the event. After 30 days, your next opportunity is Open Enrollment in November. Contact hr@myjoyner.com immediately when your life changes.

Additional Coverage & Protection

Beyond core medical and financial benefits, Joyner provides additional layers of protection for you and your family — covering life events, accidents, and situations that standard health coverage does not address.

Voluntary AD&D — Accidental Death & Dismemberment
Voluntary Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provides financial protection for you and your eligible dependents in the event of accidental death, loss of sight, loss of limb use, or dismemberment. Coverage amounts are elected during enrollment and are separate from your base life insurance. Contact HR for plan details and enrollment options.
Child Care Resources & Dependent Care FSA
Joyner provides resources to help associates locate and evaluate child care providers, understand state assistance programs, and plan for child care costs. The Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA) lets you set aside pre-tax dollars — up to $5,000 per household per year — to pay for eligible dependent care expenses, reducing your taxable income.
Relocation Assistance
Associates who relocate for a Joyner role may be eligible for relocation assistance benefits — covering moving expenses, temporary housing, travel costs, and spouse/partner job search support. Relocation packages are coordinated through HR and are role- and distance-dependent. Contact HR to understand what is available for your specific situation.

Time Away from Work

Joyner offers a comprehensive suite of leave policies designed to support associates through every major life event — planned and unplanned. All leave policies are administered through HR. Contact hr@myjoyner.com to initiate any leave request.

Paid Time Off (PTO)
PTO is a unified bank of hours for benefits-eligible associates covering vacation, personal illness, family illness, medical appointments, and other personal time. Accrual rates are based on tenure. View your current balance and request time off on the Time Off page.
Parental Leave
Joyner provides paid parental leave for eligible associates following the birth of a child. This benefit is separate from Short-Term Disability and may be used in addition to STD benefits where applicable. Adoption leave is also available — see the Adoption Policy below. Contact HR to plan your leave before your expected due date.
Adoption Policy
Joyner's Adoption Policy provides financial assistance for eligible adoption-related expenses — including agency fees, legal fees, and transportation costs — as well as paid time off for benefits-eligible associates following a finalized adoption. Contact HR for current reimbursement limits and eligibility requirements.
Bereavement Leave
Joyner provides paid bereavement leave for associates dealing with the loss of an immediate family member, relative, or close friend. This leave covers time needed to make arrangements, travel, attend services, and grieve. Contact HR immediately — bereavement leave is approved on an as-needed basis, and we will work with you on timing.
Military Leave
Joyner is a proud military-friendly employer. Military leave policies are designed to accommodate a variety of service scenarios — including active duty, training, and family deployment support. Joyner complies fully with USERRA and provides additional support resources for associates managing deployment, return, and family challenges. Contact HR for your specific situation.
Civil Service Leave
Civil Service Leave provides associates paid time away from work to fulfill government obligations — including jury duty, voting, and other civic responsibilities. Notify your manager and HR as early as possible when you receive a civil service obligation so scheduling can be coordinated.
Community Service & Education Support (CS/ES)
Full-time associates receive 8 paid hours per year to participate in school or community activities — attending a child's field trip, volunteering at a community event, or supporting local education initiatives. Part-time associates receive 4 hours. CS/ES hours are separate from VTO and do not require a nonprofit affiliation.
Family & Medical Leave (FMLA)
Eligible associates may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year under FMLA for a serious health condition, the birth or adoption of a child, or to care for a family member with a serious health condition. Joyner also provides FMLA-eligible leave for qualifying military exigencies. Contact HR to initiate the FMLA process — documentation is required.

Recognition, Giving & Community

Joyner recognizes milestone achievements, supports associate generosity, and invests in the communities where our associates live and work. These programs reflect our belief that great companies do more than pay well — they celebrate people and give back.

Anniversary & Retirement Gifts
Joyner celebrates associate milestones every five years of service and upon retirement with a Select-A-Gift recognition award. Choose from a curated selection of gifts — a tangible acknowledgment of your dedication and the years you have invested in building this company.
Select-A-Gift — Year-End Recognition
Every Joyner associate receives a year-end Select-A-Gift award — a curated gift selection that lets you choose something you actually want. New associates are eligible starting no later than two weeks after their hire date. Watch for your year-end gift notification from HR each December.
Joyner Foundation — Volunteer Grant
The Joyner Companies Foundation awards a $500 grant to an eligible nonprofit organization of your choice when you volunteer a minimum of 40 hours in a calendar year. Your time has real monetary value to the causes you care about — log your volunteer hours and submit your grant request through HR.
Joyner Foundation — Matching Gifts
The Joyner Companies Foundation matches eligible associate charitable contributions dollar-for-dollar. For accredited colleges and universities: $25 minimum, up to $3,000 per year. For qualifying nonprofit organizations and K-12 schools: $25 minimum, up to $1,500 per year. Submit matching gift requests through HR with proof of your contribution.
Wellness Wednesday
Wellness Wednesday is Joyner's weekly wellbeing initiative — featuring free resources, curated content, and special programs designed to support your physical health, mental wellbeing, nutrition, and overall lifestyle. Content is distributed through the Newsroom and Microsoft Teams each Wednesday.
Ovation — Peer Recognition
Ovation is Joyner's peer-to-peer recognition program — any associate can nominate a colleague for exceptional performance, positive attitude, or living Joyner's values. Recognitions are posted publicly and factored into performance conversations. Give an Ovation today.
