Wellbeing & Safety
Your safety is not negotiable. Your wellbeing is not optional. At Joyner, we build a culture where every person goes home safe, healthy, and whole — every single day.

Safety & Wellbeing at Joyner

Joyner operates across logistics, transportation, and warehousing environments where safety awareness is critical. But safety isn't just about hard hats and seatbelts — it's about how you feel when you show up, how supported you are when things get hard, and how confidently you can raise a concern without fear of retaliation. We invest in both your physical safety and your mental wellness because a healthy team is a strong team.

Joyner's Commitment to Safety

Safety is not a department — it is a culture. At Joyner, every associate from the dock floor to the executive suite is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment. We hold each other accountable, report hazards without hesitation, and believe that zero preventable injuries is an achievable goal — not an aspirational one.

It's okay to not be okay. Joyner's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers free, confidential counseling, stress management coaching, and mental health resources — no questions asked, no judgment given.
Rest & Recovery
Fatigue is a serious safety risk, especially for drivers and warehouse workers. Take your breaks. Use your PTO. Get enough sleep. A rested team is a safe team.
Physical Wellness
Joyner's benefits include gym membership discounts and fitness resources through Perks at Work. Moving your body — even a short walk — improves focus, mood, and long-term health.
Speak Up Culture

Joyner has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, retaliation, and workplace bullying. If something doesn't feel right, say something. Use our anonymous reporting tools or talk directly to HR.
Nutrition & Hydration

Work-Life Balance
A sustainable pace is a safe pace. If you feel overwhelmed, talk to your manager. Joyner encourages open conversations about workload and is committed to preventing associate burnout.

Safety Standard

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

All associates in operational roles are required to wear proper PPE at all times in designated safety zones. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action.
1

Required PPE — All Operational Roles

ANSI/ISEA 107 Class 2 Red Safety Vest — must be worn at all times on the warehouse floor, dock, and any operational area. Your vest is issued during onboarding.

2

Footwear Requirements

ASTM-rated steel-toed or composite-toed safety boots are required in all hub warehouse and dock environments. Open-toed shoes, sandals, and non-safety footwear are strictly prohibited on the floor.

3

Role-Specific PPE

Forklift and heavy equipment operators must wear hard hats and high-visibility gloves when operating machinery. Hazmat handlers must wear approved respiratory protection and chemical-resistant gloves as specified by the MSDS sheet for the material.

4

Damaged or Missing PPE

Report damaged or missing PPE to your supervisor immediately. Do not continue working in a safety zone without required PPE. Replacement equipment is available through Administrative Services.

PPE request or replacement: Contact adminservices@myjoyner.com or speak with your hub facility manager.
Driver Safety

Driver Safety Standards

All Joyner drivers are required to comply with FMCSA regulations and Joyner's internal safety protocols on every trip, every time.
1

Pre-Trip Inspection

Complete a full FMCSA-compliant pre-trip inspection before every dispatch. Check tires, lights, brakes, mirrors, fluid levels, and cargo securement. Log the inspection in your DVR (Driver Vehicle Report).

2

Hours of Service (HOS) Compliance

All CDL drivers must comply with FMCSA HOS regulations: maximum 11 hours driving after 10 consecutive off-duty hours; maximum 14-hour on-duty window. Log all hours in your ELD device.

3

No Phone / Distracted Driving

Use of a handheld mobile device while operating a commercial vehicle is strictly prohibited under FMCSA rules and Joyner policy. Violations may result in immediate termination.

4

Post-Trip Inspection

Complete a post-trip DVR at the end of every run. Report any defects or damage immediately to your dispatcher. Do not dispatch a vehicle with unresolved safety defects.

5

Accident / Incident Protocol

In the event of an accident: ensure safety, call 911 if needed, notify your dispatcher immediately, do not admit fault, document the scene, and complete a Joyner incident report within 24 hours.

FMCSA violations or concerns: Contact your dispatch supervisor or report anonymously through the Ethics & Compliance hotline.
Warehouse Safety

Warehouse Safety Protocols

A safe warehouse is everyone's responsibility. These protocols apply to all associates working in or visiting any Joyner hub facility.
1

Proper Lifting Technique

Always bend at the knees — not the waist — when lifting items over 30 lbs. Use team lifts for items over 50 lbs. Mechanical lifting aids (pallet jacks, forklifts) are available for heavy loads.

2

Aisle & Floor Clearance

Keep all aisles, emergency exits, fire extinguisher access points, and electrical panels clear at all times. Pallets and materials must be stored in designated zones only.

3

Forklift Safety Zones

Pedestrians must yield to forklifts in marked forklift zones. Never walk behind a reversing forklift. Maintain at least 10 feet of clearance from an operating forklift at all times.

4

Hazardous Materials

Handle hazardous materials only if you are trained and certified. Review the MSDS sheet before handling any chemical. Report spills immediately to your supervisor — do not attempt to clean chemical spills without proper PPE and training.

5

Rack & Shelving Safety

Never exceed posted weight limits on racking systems. Report any damaged rack uprights, beams, or connectors immediately — do not use damaged racking. Tag it and notify your facility manager.

Safety concern or near-miss? Report it immediately to your supervisor or submit a Safety Incident Report on Joyner One. Near-misses are as important as actual incidents.
Incident Reporting

Incident Reporting Procedure

Any workplace injury, near-miss, or unsafe condition must be reported immediately. Delays in reporting can affect both your wellbeing and your eligibility for workers' compensation benefits.
1

Immediate Response

Ensure your own safety first. If injured, seek first aid or call 911 for serious injuries. Notify your supervisor immediately — do not wait until the end of your shift.

2

Document the Scene

If safe to do so, photograph the area where the incident occurred. Note the time, location, what you were doing, any witnesses, and any equipment involved.

3

Submit a Safety Incident Report

Complete the Safety Incident Report form on Joyner One within 24 hours of the incident. All fields are required. Your supervisor will also complete a supervisor section.

4

Medical Evaluation

For any injury — even minor ones — you may be required to complete a medical evaluation at a Joyner-approved occupational health clinic. HR will provide the referral.

5

Workers' Compensation

If your injury requires medical treatment or time away from work, HR will initiate your workers' compensation claim. Do not use personal health insurance for work-related injuries.

Report a Safety Incident: Use the Safety Incident Report form through Corporate Security, or call the Safety & Insurance Services line directly. Associates with urgent safety concerns should contact their supervisor immediately.
Corporate Security & Safety
Emergency Procedures

Emergency Procedures

Know your building's emergency procedures before an emergency happens. All associates must complete emergency procedure orientation within their first 30 days.
1

Fire Emergency

Activate the nearest fire alarm pull station. Evacuate immediately via the nearest marked exit — do not use elevators. Proceed to your designated muster point and report to your floor warden. Call 911 only after you are safely outside.

2

Medical Emergency

Call 911 immediately for any life-threatening medical emergency. If trained, administer first aid or CPR until emergency services arrive. Notify your supervisor and security immediately. AED units are located at each hub entrance.

3

Active Threat / Security Incident

Follow the Run — Hide — Fight protocol. If possible, evacuate. If not, secure the nearest room and silence devices. As a last resort, act to disrupt the threat. Call 911 when safe. Contact Corporate Security at (877) 240-9784.

4

Severe Weather

Move to the interior of the building away from windows. Do not use elevators. Proceed to the designated shelter area (posted in your facility). Monitor alerts via the emergency notification system.

5

Hazardous Material Spill

Evacuate the immediate area. Alert your supervisor and safety officer immediately. Do not attempt to clean up hazardous spills without proper training and PPE. Follow the MSDS instructions for the specific material.

Safety Right

Stop-Work Authority

Every Joyner associate — at every level — has the right and the responsibility to stop any work that poses an immediate safety risk. You will never face retaliation for exercising Stop-Work Authority.
1

When to Stop Work

Stop work immediately if you observe: an imminent risk of injury to yourself or others; unsafe equipment, conditions, or procedures; a colleague being pressured to work in unsafe conditions; any condition that feels unsafe even if you cannot immediately identify the specific hazard.

2

How to Stop Work

Clearly communicate "Stop Work" to those involved. Move everyone to a safe area. Notify your supervisor immediately of the reason for the stop. Document the condition with photos if safe to do so.

3

Resuming Work

Work may only resume after the unsafe condition has been corrected and a supervisor or safety officer has confirmed it is safe to continue. Never resume work under pressure without proper resolution.

4

No Retaliation — Ever

Joyner has a strict zero-retaliation policy for any associate who exercises Stop-Work Authority in good faith. Any retaliation — including subtle pressure, reassignment, or hostile behavior — should be reported to HR immediately at hr@myjoyner.com.

Remember: No shipment, deadline, or production target is worth a human life. Stop the work. Report the hazard. Resume when safe.
