Remote Work at Joyner
Joyner supports flexible work arrangements for eligible roles. Whether you are fully remote, hybrid, or occasionally working from home, the expectations are the same: show up on time, stay connected, protect company data, and deliver results. This page gives you the tools and guidance to do that well from any location.
Joyner's Approach to Flexible Work
Joyner is a logistics company that moves things in the physical world — but a significant portion of the work that makes that possible happens on screens, in spreadsheets, and across video calls. For eligible roles, flexible and remote work arrangements are not a perk — they are a strategic tool that allows Joyner to attract and retain talented associates across the country while maintaining the high-performance standards our clients expect.

Top 6 Tips for Working from Home Effectively
01
Set a consistent schedule
Start and end at the same time each day. Use your calendar to block focus time and let your team know your availability.
02
Dedicated workspace
Work from a designated spot — not the couch. A consistent space helps your brain shift into work mode and reduces distractions.
03
Stay over-communicative
When in doubt, send the message. Remote work succeeds when teammates can see your status, your progress, and your availability in real time.
04
Camera on by default
Turn your camera on for meetings unless bandwidth is a problem. Presence matters and face-to-face connection builds trust across remote teams.
05
Protect Joyner data
Use the VPN, enable MFA, never work over public Wi-Fi without a VPN connection, and lock your screen when stepping away — even at home.
06
Take real breaks
Step away from your desk. Remote workers often forget to take breaks — your productivity and wellbeing both depend on stepping away regularly.
Remote Work Eligibility & Approval
Not all roles at Joyner are eligible for remote or hybrid arrangements. Eligibility is determined by role function, performance standing, and operational requirements. Use this guide to understand where you stand before submitting a request.
Eligible
Corporate & Administrative Roles
Roles in HR, Finance, Sales, Technology, Marketing, and Administrative Services where the primary work is screen-based and does not require physical presence at a hub facility. Hybrid or fully remote arrangements may be approved after 90 days.
Case by Case
Operations Coordination & Dispatch
Some coordination and dispatch functions may support hybrid arrangements depending on the hub, shift structure, and system access requirements. Eligibility is evaluated by the hub manager and HR in partnership.
Not Eligible
Operational & Driver Roles
Dock associates, CDL drivers, warehouse staff, and field operations roles require physical presence and are not eligible for remote or hybrid arrangements. Safety, compliance, and operational continuity require on-site attendance.
How to Request: Submit your remote or hybrid work arrangement request to your manager at least 14 days before the desired start date. Your manager will consult with HR to confirm eligibility. Approved arrangements are documented and reviewed quarterly.
Home Office Standards
Working from home does not mean working without standards. Joyner remote associates are expected to maintain a professional, secure, and productive work environment — regardless of location.
Dedicated Workspace
Designate a specific area of your home for work — ideally a separate room or a consistent desk setup. A defined workspace creates a psychological boundary between work and personal time and reduces distractions during calls.
Professional Video Background
Ensure your video call background is clean and professional. Use a virtual background when needed. Your appearance on video represents Joyner — camera-on is the standard for all internal and client-facing meetings.
Reliable Internet Connection
A minimum of 25 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload is recommended for smooth Teams calls and VPN access. Test your connection at fast.com. If your home connection is unreliable, use an approved co-working location or contact IT for a mobile hotspot solution.
Core Hours Availability
Remote associates must be available and responsive during their designated core hours — typically 9 AM to 3 PM in their local time zone. Update your Teams status to reflect your availability. Unexplained unavailability during core hours is treated the same as an unexcused absence.
Secure Network Use
Connect to Joyner systems via your home network or the Joyner VPN. Never work from public Wi-Fi without the VPN active. Your home router should have WPA2 or WPA3 encryption enabled — contact IT if you need help checking this.
Work Hours Boundaries
One of the biggest risks of remote work is overworking. Set a clear end-of-day time and log out. Update your Outlook calendar to show working hours. Your manager should not expect responses outside of your scheduled hours unless a prior arrangement exists.
Remote Setup & Technology
SSO & Core Tool Access
Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and Joyner One all use Single Sign-On. Log in with your Joyner email and password from any device. If SSO is failing, clear browser cookies or try an incognito window first.
Standard-issue equipment includes a company laptop and necessary peripherals for eligible roles. Submit hardware replacement requests or IT help tickets through the IT helpdesk portal.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is mandatory for all Joyner accounts. Never share passwords, avoid public Wi-Fi without VPN, and report phishing emails to IT immediately.
Remote and hybrid work arrangements are determined by role type and manager approval. All remote associates are expected to:
Be available during core hours — typically 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM in your local time zone, with full-day availability during scheduled meetings
Maintain response time SLAs — reply to Teams messages within 2 hours and emails within the same business day during working hours
Keep your Teams status accurate — use Available, Busy, Do Not Disturb, or Away to reflect your real availability at all times
Attend video meetings camera-on unless explicitly excused by your manager
Notify your manager any time you will be unreachable during expected working hours
Co-Working Space Booking
Remote sales personnel and traveling managers can reserve on-demand co-working spaces and conference rooms at partner locations nationwide. Contact Administrative Services to book.
Set your monitor at eye level, keep your feet flat on the floor, and position your keyboard so elbows are at 90 degrees. Take a 5-minute movement break every hour.
Expense Policies & Home Office Allowances
What Is Reimbursable
Equipment & peripherals — Company-approved monitors, keyboards, mice, headsets, and webcams for eligible remote roles (submit through IT with manager approval)
Office supplies — Basic supplies required for your role may be expensed with a receipt and manager approval
Internet stipend — Eligible roles receive a monthly internet stipend — confirm eligibility with HR
Mobile phone — Associates in phone-required roles may receive a monthly mobile stipend — confirm with HR
How to submit: All remote work expenses are submitted through Navan or the M365 expense workflow. Attach receipts and include a brief description of the business purpose.
Submit an Expense
Submit remote work expense claims through Navan or the M365 expense workflow with your receipt and business purpose description.
Camera on. Mute when not speaking. Use the raise-hand feature. Record only with attendee consent. Set your Outlook/Teams out-of-office when away. Start and end on time — always.
Stay Connected
Join the Joyner remote-friendly Teams channels, participate in virtual coffee chats, and engage with ERG digital communities to stay connected and prevent isolation.
Remote work requires intentional connection. Without the informal moments that happen naturally in an office — the hallway conversation, the lunch table — remote associates must be deliberate about staying visible, engaged, and part of the team culture.
Show Up in Teams
Participate actively in team channels. Share updates, celebrate wins, and contribute to discussions. Presence in digital spaces signals engagement to your manager and teammates — silence can be misread as disengagement.
Book Weekly 1-on-1s With Your Manager
Remote associates should have a standing weekly 1-on-1 with their manager — camera on, structured agenda. This is your primary touchpoint for performance alignment, support requests, and career conversations.
Attend All-Hands & Town Halls
Company-wide meetings are mandatory for all associates regardless of location. These events align the organization, share strategic updates, and give every associate visibility into where Joyner is headed. Recordings are posted to Joyner One for those with scheduling conflicts.
Recognize Your Colleagues
Use the Ovation recognition program to celebrate teammates — remote or in-hub. Recognition does not require physical proximity. A sincere shoutout in a Teams channel or an Ovation nomination goes a long way in a distributed team.
Come In When It Counts
Remote does not mean invisible. When your team has an in-person planning day, a client visit, or a critical project kickoff — show up. The relationships built in person sustain the productivity of remote collaboration throughout the year.
For Managers — Leading Remote Teams
Managing a distributed team requires a different muscle than managing people in an office. Here is what Joyner expects of managers who lead remote or hybrid associates.
Outcomes Over Hours
Evaluate remote associates on results — deliverables, quality, and impact — not on how many hours they appear to be online. Micromanaging availability is a trust destroyer and a performance drag.
Create Inclusive Meeting Norms
If one person is remote, everyone goes remote. Avoid hybrid setups where some people are in a conference room and others are on video — it creates a two-tier participation experience.
Over-Communicate Context
Remote associates miss the ambient context of being in an office. Share the "why" behind decisions, give more background than you think is necessary, and default to written documentation for anything that matters.
Check In — Not Check Up
Regular 1-on-1s should feel like support conversations, not status reports. Ask how your associate is doing, not just what they are working on. Remote work can be isolating — your awareness matters.
Equitable Opportunity
Remote associates must have equal access to stretch assignments, promotions, and visibility. Proximity bias — favoring in-office associates — is a management failure. Performance, not presence, drives advancement at Joyner.
Document Everything
Decisions made in hallway conversations do not exist for remote associates. Document meeting outcomes, send follow-up summaries, and keep SharePoint updated. If it is not written down, it did not happen.
