Frequently Asked Questions
What is intermodal freight and how does Joyner Intermodal work?
Intermodal freight uses two or more modes of transportation — typically rail and trucking — to move a container from origin to destination without handling the freight itself when changing modes. Joyner Intermodal coordinates the drayage (short-distance truck moves) between rail terminals and customer locations. This method reduces cost on long-haul moves and improves transit efficiency. Contact the intermodal team to determine if your freight lane is a good fit for intermodal service.
How does Joyner Freight Assist work?
When Joyner Freight experiences unexpected delays, capacity shortfalls, or unforeseen issues on active shipments, the Intermodal team steps in to provide support. Joyner Freight Assist allows the intermodal team to cover freight moves, coordinate alternate routing, or provide additional capacity to keep shipments on track. If you are a Joyner Freight associate and need Freight Assist support, contact the Intermodal team directly at intermodal@myjoyner.com or through the Quick Links.
How do I request port access or TWIC card support?
Port access and TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card support requests are submitted using the “Request Port Access or TWIC Card Support” Quick Link on the right sidebar. Include the driver name, the port or terminal requiring access, the date access is needed, and whether you are requesting a new TWIC card or assistance with an existing credential. Allow adequate processing time for new TWIC applications, as federal processing can take several weeks.
Which markets does Joyner Intermodal currently serve?
Joyner Intermodal is currently growing its footprint in Texas, Georgia, Arizona, and the Indiana/Illinois border corridor. These markets align with major rail hubs and freight demand centers. As the team expands, additional markets will be added. Contact the intermodal team for current coverage details and to determine if your freight lane falls within an active or developing market.
How do I submit a vehicle pre-inspection or ELD log correction?
Vehicle pre-inspection reports must be submitted before every shift using the “Submit Vehicle Pre-Inspection Form” Quick Link. ELD corrections must be submitted as soon as an error is identified using the “Electronic Log Correction Form” Quick Link. Include the date and time of the entry needing correction, a description of the error, and the correct information. Both are reviewed by Driver Services and the Compliance team. Do not falsify log entries — always submit a correction request.
