Overview

Joyner is dedicated to providing a safe and healthful environment for employees and customers, protecting the public and preserving our assets and property.

Our most valuable resource is the people who work for us. Injuries can be prevented. To achieve this objective, Joyner makes all reasonable efforts to comply with governmental regulations pertaining to safety and health issues. An effective Safety and Health Program will be carried out throughout our organization.

Joyner and employees share the responsibility for a safe and healthful work environment. A safe environment for employees and visitors is taken into consideration in the design, and construction of company facilities, in the selection of equipment, and in the recommended work practices of our employees. You are important in helping to prevent work-related accidents and should perform your job in a way that you do not injure yourself or others. Promptly report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor.

Administrative Services is responsible for assisting management and employees in ensuring this safe and healthful work environment.

If you experience a work related injury or illness, promptly notify your management and the Work Comp Team. If the injury is severe, call 911, and then notify the Work Comp Team. Complete an Incident/Accident Report as soon as possible.

When onsite and available, EHS nurses assist employees and visitors when emergency medical incidents occur. Security staff also responds.

If the nurse is unavailable, Security staff responds. Afterwards, Security staff completes an Incident/Accident Report found on Joyner Forms.

The nurse notifies the supervisor of the employee’s disposition (back to work, went home, or sent for treatment). In some instances, the nurse may also notify Human Resources. The nurse may follow-up with the impacted individual, if warranted.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Requirements HR Employee Care Workers Compensation Team (WCT) is responsible for complying with certain OSHA requirements. The following are a few examples:

The WCT notifies the Safety & Insurance Services (S&I) immediately if any of the following occurs in the workplace:

A work related fatality

A work related inpatient hospitalization

A work related amputation

A work related loss of an eye

Safety reports the details to the regional OSHA office.

The WCT keeps OSHA records and logs.

If OSHA sends a workplace injury and illness survey (Bureau of Labor Statistics survey) to an Operations Center, Human Resources forwards the survey to the WCT. The WCT completes and returns the survey to the address listed on the form.
