Overview

Transferees who are charged a penalty for breaking a lease on a rental dwelling in the departure location may be eligible for reimbursement.

General Information

Lease Penalty reimbursement applies in the following scenarios, if financially required per lease agreement:

Lease Penalty fee

Rent to fulfill remainder of lease requirement

The maximum reimbursement is the equivalent of two months' rent.

The Lease Penalty benefit is a reimbursement program - Joyner will not pay direct to landlords.

Tax Information Lease penalty reimbursements are included as gross income reported on the transferee's W-2 form. See Relocation Tax Policy.

Employee Actions

The transferee provides the Relocation Counselor with:

Provide proof of payment (paid receipt or a letter from the landlord documenting the amount of penalty paid)

Provide a copy of the rental dwelling lease agreement
