Employees are eligible to carry some benefits into retirement.
Note: If the employee is terminating due to disability, Contact HREC for additional assistance. If the employee is terminating for reasons other than retirement, see the Benefits at Termination chapter.
The Joyner Benefits Center will be notified of a retirement on the first business day after the effective date of retirement and will send the employee information regarding their eligibility and benefits as a retiree.
The following material summarizes certain portions of the Joyner Transportation & Logistic Services Retirement Plan for United States Employees. If this summary contains any statements that disagree with the actual Plan language, the actual Plan language shall control.
The following explains benefits disposition at retirement:
Company Holiday An employee who retires is not eligible to receive holiday pay for a holiday that falls on the effective date of retirement.
Paid Time Off (PTO) Retirees will be paid for unused PTO.
Bonuses / Incentive Plan The rules for each incentive plan determine payment eligibility for participants.
Credit Union Individuals who retire from the Company remain eligible for full services with Joyner Federal Credit Union. If you have questions regarding your accounts with the Credit Union, please contact a Credit Union Specialist or visit joynerfcu.com.
Extended Medical Benefits Medical Benefits coverage ceases on the last day of the month in which employment terminates.
Note: Joyner reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to amend, alter, or discontinue group medical benefits at any future date, before or after you retire. Any amendment, alteration, or discontinuance of group medical benefits may be made by Joyner’s Executive Team without your or your dependent's consent. Only Joyner’s Executive Team may modify this reservation of rights.
Group Dental Plan Group Dental coverage ceases on the last day of the month in which employment terminates. If a retiring employee and eligible dependents are enrolled in the Group Dental Plan, they may continue dental coverage for a limited time through the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986(COBRA).
Group Life Insurance Plan Medical Benefits coverage ceases on the last day of the month in which employment terminates.

Group Vision Plan Group Vision coverage ceases on the last day of the month in which employment terminates. If a retiring employee and eligible dependents are enrolled in the Group Vision Plan, they may continue vision coverage for a limited time through the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986 (COBRA).

Accidental Death and Dismemberment Group Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage terminates at retirement.
Joyner 401(k) Savings Plan See the 401(k) Savings Plan Summary Plan Description for retirement options. To access your 401(k) account or find additional information, log on to the My Benefits Resource website or HREC for additional assistance.
Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA) Only those services received while an employee and a DCFSA Plan participant are eligible for reimbursement. Plan participation ends on the day of termination.
DCFSA claims must be submitted by the terminating employee within 6 months after the end of the current Plan Year.
NOTE: Effective January 1, 2011 the due date for submitting claims from the prior year is changing from June 30 to March 31. Example, associates will have until March 31, 2011 to submit claims from 2010.
Activities All retirees (including Retirement-Disability Termination and Released ILE-10 Years of Service or More) receive a lifetime membership in the Activities Association. Privileges extend to spouse and dependent children living in the same household; however, no new family members may be added after retirement.
Retirement Recognition Gift Retiring employees are eligible to receive a Retirement Recognition Gift based on their years of service. See the Anniversary & Retirement Recognition policy for details on gift eligibility and ordering procedures.
U.S. Discount Program Retirees are eligible to participate in the U.S. Discount Program.
Workers' Compensation Pending Workers' Compensation claims are handled by our carrier. The HREC Department should notify the carrier of the retirement.
Rehired Retirees Benefits at time of rehire.
